TREN has completed a comprehensive statewide cyberinfrastructure needs assessment, a key deliverable under NSF CC* Award #2430341.
The assessment surveyed research computing needs, current network capacity, and connectivity gaps across Tennessee Technological University, Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Findings confirm that all four institutions face significant constraints that limit their ability to participate in large-scale national research collaborations, access cloud research computing, and compete for federal research funding that requires high-speed network connectivity.
The needs assessment provides the evidence foundation for TREN’s regional cyberinfrastructure plan, which will guide network design and partnership development as the initiative advances toward an operational 100G backbone.
